I've been doing some thinking about the next 20 years of electricity in the Southeast. This spreadsheet's based on a report by Rewiring America on electrifying 1 billion machines across the US.
If they're even close to right, this suggests that homeowners in the South will spend $1T to upgrade and electrify their homes over the next 20 years to combat climate change. There will be lots of federal, state and local work to create incentives for these purchases, some of that will work, some probably won't.
I'm very curious to learn from actual operators in the field about how these numbers land for you, and whether or not today's electricians and HVAC techs are tomorrow's gatekeepers to $1T
